Meet Jeremy — our little compostable kitchen sponge with a natural loofah scrub side, made for washing up, wiping down and dealing with the everyday carnage of a functioning kitchen.
Made from biodegradable wood pulp, this cellulose sponge with loofah is soft, flexible and extremely absorbent. It soaks up spills, wipes worktops and gets on with the dishes without relying on the usual plastic foam sponge.
Then there’s Jeremy’s tougher side.
A layer of natural loofah plant fibre turns him into a handy loofah sponge scourer for stuck-on food, grubby pans and all those mysterious bits that somehow become welded to the washing up.
So you get a soft absorbent sponge on one side and an eco sponge scourer on the other.
No plastic foam. No synthetic scrubby layer. Just cellulose and loofah doing the washing up.
Why choose a compostable kitchen sponge?
Most conventional washing-up sponges are made from plastic-based foams and synthetic fibres. They wear out, shed tiny bits as they go and eventually become another lump of plastic waste.
Jeremy is a simple plastic free dish sponge designed to do the same everyday jobs using plant-based materials instead.
Use him for dishes, worktops, spills and general kitchen cleaning. He is small enough to sit comfortably in your hand, absorbent enough to be genuinely useful and scrubby enough to earn his keep.
To keep Jeremy happy, rinse him with warm water after use, squeeze out the excess moisture and leave him somewhere airy to dry.
When he finally reaches the end of his useful life, he can go into the compost.
