Save Some Green has no interest in following you around the internet, building a profile of you, selling your details or finding increasingly inventive ways of advertising things to you.

You are clearly an awesome person trying to minimise your impact on the world. You wouldn’t be here otherwise. We applaud you for it, and we’re not about to repay that trust by treating your personal information as a commodity.

We use the cookies needed to make the website and shop work properly and securely. If we use analytics, they are there simply to help us understand whether the website is useful and where it could work better. Optional analytics are only switched on if you choose to allow them.

We do not use our cookie-consent system for advertising or behavioural tracking.

Some information obviously has to pass to trusted services when they are actually needed — for example, a payment provider has to process a payment and the website has to remember what you’ve put in your basket. That is very different from selling or exploiting your information, and we don’t do that.

If we occasionally want to tell you about new products, useful changes or other Save Some Green news, we’ll only do that where we have an appropriate reason or permission to contact you. We’re interested in helping you find useful eco alternatives, not becoming an irritating presence in your life.

What are cookies?

Save Some Green aims to use the minimum cookies reasonably necessary to operate the website and provide its services.

Save Some Green consent cookie

Our own consent system stores a cookie called:

ssg_cookie_consent

This allows the website to remember the privacy choice you made so that we do not repeatedly ask you the same question.

It records whether you selected necessary cookies only or permitted analytics, together with the applicable consent-policy version.

Analytics cookies

Analytics are off by default.

If Google Analytics or another approved analytics service is enabled on Save Some Green, it should not be loaded through our consent system unless you explicitly choose to allow analytics.

Analytics can help us understand things such as:

  • which pages people find useful;
  • how visitors move around the website;
  • whether something on the site is difficult to use; and
  • where the website could be improved.

The purpose is to improve Save Some Green, not to create advertising profiles of individual visitors.

If you choose necessary cookies only, optional analytics remain disabled.

Advertising and behavioural tracking

Save Some Green does not currently use its cookie-consent system for advertising or behavioural-tracking cookies.

We do not want to follow customers around the internet or build advertising profiles about them.

If this position materially changes in future, the Cookie Policy and consent choices must be updated before such tracking is introduced.

Payments and other essential third-party services

Running an online shop requires us to use specialist third-party services.

For example, payment providers need sufficient information to securely process a payment, and security, hosting, ecommerce or other essential services may use cookies or process limited information when providing their service.

We choose these services to perform specific functions necessary to run Save Some Green. We do not sell customer information to them for their own advertising purposes.

Anonymous consent records

Save Some Green may retain an anonymous record showing that a cookie choice was made.

The consent system can record:

  • a randomly generated consent ID;
  • the choice made;
  • the consent-policy version;
  • the website hostname; and
  • the date and time of the choice.

The consent record does not store your IP address or create a browser fingerprint.

These consent records are currently retained for up to 24 months.

Changing or withdrawing your choice

You can change your cookie preference whenever you wish.

Use the Cookie settings control on the website to reopen your privacy choices.

You can then permit optional analytics or return to necessary cookies only.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this policy when the website, the services we use or the relevant privacy requirements change.

If a material change affects the consent we require from visitors, we may ask you to make your cookie choice again.
