What is Cacao?
The raw cacao bean is one of nature’s most fantastic superfoods due to its mineral content and wide array of unique and varied properties.
Cacao is extraordinarily rich in antioxidants, even more so than Acai berry. Science has investigated Cacao extensively. One well-regarded study looked at its effects on a people indigenous to Panama, comparing a group given to drinking large quantities of home-prepared Cacao with another exhibiting more modern dietary habits. The results were startling: the Cacao-consuming group exhibited much lower rates of stroke, cardiovascular disease and cancer than the other.
Our sun-dried Raw Cacao Powder is made by grinding up raw Cacao beans (seeds of the Cacao fruit, which grow on the Cacao tree), then extracting the pure oil (Cacao Butter) in a cold-pressing process. The result is a silky smooth powder with deep dark sensual notes of flavour, perfect for all your raw chocolate recipes, smoothies and super creations!
One or two spoonfuls of Raw Cacao Powder can transform many recipes into healthy chocolate treats. Add to smoothies, raw cakes and desserts… and of course raw chocolate.
For a quick raw chocolatey fix:
Mix the following ingredients together in a bowl with a spoon: Your favourite nut or seed butter (almond, brazil, hazelnut, tahini), raw honey or agave syrup, a pinch of salt, a couple of teaspoons of Raw Cacao Powder. Eat as it is, or spread on rice cakes or flax crackers. Delicious!
